    1. M. Jean Craig Barbara Cooney Is a well-known author, some of his books are a fascination for readers like in the The Donkey Prince book, this is one of the most wanted M. Jean Craig Barbara Cooney author readers around the world.

    2. A gently told and illustrated fairy tale that will suit kids who don't like to see anyone eaten, axed, beheaded, thrown, chased, etc. Also it was a pleasant change to see a fairy tale romance based on on personality and mutual interest rather than looks and wealth.

    3. A King and Queen who can have no children ask a wizard for help but when the King pays him he substitutes lead pieces for some of the gold. When the wizard finds out, he curses them to have a child who looks like a donkey and will remain as such until someone loves him as a human. The King and Queen are heartbroken and pay no attention to the child. He is teased by the other children and eventually leaves home until he finds another court who welcome him because he is a wonderful lute player. He [...]

    4. I picked up this book for two reasons -- it's the retelling of a classic Grimm fairy tale and it's illustrated by Barbara Cooney. Not knowing much about the history of fairy tales, I don't know if there's a connection between this tale and 'Beauty and the Beast.'I have the 1977 Zephyr paperback edition, which doesn't do justice to the art. All of the pictures look 'flat.' A better printing would bump this up to four stars.

    5. The Donkey Prince 2 out of 5 stars Craig’s story is a remake of Beauty and the Beast, although the reader would not be able to find this information in the book. There are not author or illustrator notes giving credit to where the idea came from to create the book. The book is about a prince who is born as a donkey, and he will turn into a prince only when someone falls in love with him as a donkey. Although the pages were not numbered, there are forty-three in the book. Generally, the text c [...]

    6. I read this book in elementary school and still remember it for some reason. I think the name was interesting and the story was memorable enough to talk about it 25 years later almost. HA! A must read for every elementary schooler from one who read it.

    7. This tale is a little bit of a twist on the Beauty and the Beast tale. If your love is true, looks are truly not important.
